Qiu-inc.com provides and online marketplace for connecting IT/Hi-Tech buyers and sellers. In addition we provide high quality sourcing and market-entry advisory services
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Our business model has evolved over the last couple of years and based on the feedback from clients and prospected, we decided to make a business out of the same.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
We launched a teaser site in June 07.It was well received and loads of people around the world liked our business model and how we had presented the pain areas. Main site went live a couple of weeks ago.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We have had several working titles for our company like "LEAP", "IMPETUS", etc..since its conveyed what we are trying to accomplish for our clients. Settled on Qiu, which is Japanese for "Pray for Rain" since it was short, sweet and captured the essence of our business.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Our business model is different from all the traditional consulting firms out there. In addition, we have a revolutionary model for a marketplace which is powered by professional networking.Gather business deals through your relationship capital doesn't exists today.And our website captures this fresh, professional image perfectly.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our website will be an essential marketing channel for us in addition of our brick and mortar business. We would like to see the Qiu portal being received well and more and more businesses using our services
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
A lot!!! Loads of time and money invested in your own efforts and you want to change the world and create something new and unique. In the long run it will eventually balance out. You have to be passionate about what you do. The Qiu-inc.com team believes in the power of our model.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Nothing is unlimited. Sad part of life.But i think we have gotten what exactly we need through www.Qiu-inc.com Could not have asked for better
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We have factored in the scale issues when we did the development and planning for the same. Hope to steadily increase traffic and our online brand equity
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not too much at this point in time. Yes, as an early stage company most things costs a lot more and take double(:-) often more) the time one who expect it to take.But Qiu-inc.com has managed it well.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting the word out as fast as possible and generating quality back links and organic traffic.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Blogs, Viral methods through friends/colleagues, SEO, etc...
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Been pretty much spot on.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Its been almost 5 months now since Qiu-inc.com has been incorporated. Hope to see it blossom into a good portal and knowledge database over the years.
How does a business effectively use its resources to promote the online channels?
Pretty tricky and i feel its more important for a B2C business especially when your profitability is soo directly hinged on quality traffic and customers.
