Twigg Advisory Services Interview

By Interviewer at 10/09/09 10:22

Name of your website?

Twigg Advisory Services

Your name?

Wayne Twigg

Your Location (city, etc)

Howick

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The goal is to provide entrepreneurs ( & SME's) with useful information. It deals primarily with finance related issues such as budgeting, taxation, accounting, and some legal.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our passion is entrepreneurship - we get a kick out helping our customers be more sucessful. Entrepreneurs are generally really good at what they do and (generally) poor at the administration and financial aspects of their business. Why a website - its an effective way to reach your target audience quickly and for them to respond.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is the first website I launched. It has been going for about 5 years in different forms.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The website follows the name of our business - which leverages off the credibility & reputation I have established in the financial sector.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I am not running the website to generate ad revenue but rather qualified business leads, so there is little 3rd party advertising.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

The website is a means to an end. It reaches customers and potential customers, and gives them valuable advice. The goal here is support my consulting practice and always will be.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

The success of the website is directly related to the number of people the see it. Only in recent months have we started working getting traffic through the site, and already the results are clear from the new inquiries it generates.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Not much - I think that I would use a different platform for editing the blog - blogger is quick and easy but limiting...perhaps would use moveableType.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Lets find out!!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Setting up 'e-communication' is actually incredibly cheap. There is a tremendous amount of free information and services out there - Google for example offers great help, hosting and tools.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Writing the articles...by far trying to work out what my readers are interested in and writing in a non technical way...

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Google ad words by far...I am hoping that getting the page ranking up will help on the search side.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Running a website is not a passive or once off thing. It requires constant care & nurturing otherwise it gets stale...out of date and useless.

What is your website address?
