There is less optimism in the small business community now than in May and June. The polls say it is down to 56% from 70%. Reason: concern over the government health care reform, given as the main reason. Additionally, salaries are at their lowest levels since March 2006. It will obviously take time and a great deal of effort to turn the situation around. President Obama knows this and is doing his best to be moderate in his recovery measures while being effective. He must also take good care that the health care reform does not get out of hand. He must keep the psychology and stresses of small business in sight.
