Concrete Slab Installation Considerations

By Cement Man at 11/05/08 10:06

Nashville Concrete companies use three basic components when installing concrete slabs. There needs to be a good subgrade and base, proper placement, and correct finishing techniques.

A good subgrade consists of solid ground that is not unstable. Be cautious of water drainage issues, drop offs and sink holes. Apply a good gravel topping to level out low areas and provide stability and create a solid base.

Proper concrete placement is key. Ensure that flat areas are screeded off using a straight edge and curved areas are properly floated to transition into the flat areas.

Correct finishing techniques are developed through practice, training and experience. The area needs to be bullfloated, edged, hand floated and then the proper texture applied. Most slabs are broom finished. However, there are several different textures to choose from.

All three basic components are used in Nashville's Concrete Company, Cement Brothers Concrete.
