Dot Net Ohio Interview

By Interviewer at 12/09/08 13:51

Name of your website?

Dot Net Ohio

Your name?

Derek Haake

Your Location (city, etc)

Akron, OH

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We are a new website development firm in Akron OH. We our an offshoot of our parent company in Dallas TX, and we have been in business for over 10 years and have developed websites for small companies, public companies and have built applications for companies that have become Fortune 500 companies.

We have excellent design, Internet marketing and application development skills in e-commerce, asp, asp.net, php, SQL Server and MySql.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our founder moved to Akron to be with his family, and has separated the design business from our hosting company which remains in Dallas, TX.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first website was called Odyssey Jobs, and it was a simple .asp job board. The site was launched in 2000 in Dallas. Unfortunately, Monster.com had a little more capital and resources and my small and underfunded job board went by the wayside.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Not really sure, just started throwing names around and this one stuck.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

The site - nothing - the way we do business, everything. We are primarily concerned with our reputation, we don't take on projects we cannot handles and our paramount concern is our client's satisfaction. We want to build a relationship with each of our clients, regardless of their size, cadpital, or anything else. Additionally, we have a venture / startup branch and often work with our web clients on various other business levels.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Just a hobby. We have been very successful and we do the development to try and help other companies reach some of our success.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

N/A - launched today - will find out tomorrow (yeah right)

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Development is not a matter of money, it is a matter of time. I'm sure I would add in more content, etc.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None, we are experienced professionals.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting the word out.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

This type of thing, right here.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

- just launched today

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

10 minutes. Indefinately

What is your website address?

Dot Net Ohio
