Pocatello's original, most accurate and complete directory of web sites that serve or do business in our community.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

No one directory could give me all the information on Pocatello that I was looking for, so we made one.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

2003, Pocatello.net

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Available URL's that made sense.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We stress community support and small to medium business support. Our goal is to provide web visability to those businesses and organization that might not otherwise see the web as the opportunity it is.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

to be the primary one stop shopping link for the community and have the sight self sufficient

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We are still in start up mode, so the time is intense!!! It will be worth it in the end.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would do many more coummunity support events like the make overs we did in December for 3 deserving women in POcatello

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Unreputable competitors is the worst!!

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting the business owners of such a small community to see the opportunities the web offers for increased business.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

News coverage of community events.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Keeping up with new links and dead links takes much more time than I anticipated

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I can not think of an event that would take the site down. The extent of staff for the directory would change if the income is not there.

What is the mission of this site?

Our mission at Pocatello.net is to promote Pocatello businesses and to help them prosper as new businesses and professionals join our community.
